On How I Met Your Mother, Neil Patrick Harris’ character “Barney” is clearly not the nicest of guys, constantly manipulating vulnerable women, targeting women with “daddy issues” etc. in order to have sex with them.
Making sex such a priority is something I’ll never understand, but that’s probably just me.
Then of course he says things like “No fat chicks” or other offensive things about fat women, correlated being fat to being ugly or less worthy; like the episode in the gym where he is making “investments” waiting for girls to get “hot”
I think about all the women, who hear stuff like this on TV, in the magazines and ads, how it affects the way they think about themselves, thinking “Oh, it’s on TV so this must be a popular and/or correct opinion”.
Look, guys… Barney represents a man of certain taste. He is attracted to slimmer women, that’s okay. Barney is not the only type of guy out there (and thank goodness. I love him because of NPH, but if you think about it, he’s a huge asshole) Yes, SOME guys are attracted to slimmer women, BUT there are also guys who are attracted to chubby women, big women, petite, short, tall, blonde, brunette, red heads. A lot of them, don’t care what you look like as long as you have confidence, they are too busy feeling insecure themselves.
There is NO SET RULE. The idea that “Men don’t like fat” is FALSE because you can’t generalize a gender like that.
If they truly love you, truly want to be with you, they will take you as you are, no matter what.
